Werner Gitt aus Braunschweig ist 1937 in Raineck/Ostpreussen geboren. 1971–2002 war Gitt Leiter des Fachbereichs Informationstechnologie an der Physikalisch-Technischen Bundesanstalt in Braunschweig (PTB). Dort wurde er 1978 zum Direktor und Professor bei der PTB ernannt. Werner Gitt ist Buchautor mehrerer Bücher zu dem Problemkreis «Biblischer Glaube und Naturwissenschaft». Er ist seit 1966 verheiratet mit Ehefrau Marion und sie haben zwei Kinder.
